Falafel and Fashion in the City

As I bade goodbye to a dear friend of mine who's moving to Dallas,
we gathered for low key drinks in the village.
 After a night out,
I usually grab something to eat before heading home and sleep.
As we left the bar, the first thing that came to my mind was Mamoun's!

Situated in the heart of Greenwich Village in New York City, Mamoun’s Falafel has been serving high quality Middle Eastern Food since it first opened its doors to the public in 1971. It is the oldest falafel restaurant in New York and one of the first Middle Eastern establishments in the United States.

Family owned and operated since the beginning, the restaurant is now part of the history and culture of the Village. Its tradition extends to serving the likes of many famous musicians, actors, and other celebrities. There is an energy and flare to the place that cannot be captured in words. Whether it’s the tiny “hole in the wall” charm, the high paced/ high volume energy, or the dynamic clientele, going to Mamoun’s for a falafel can transform a meal into a unique dining experience. Through the years, they’ve been featured on the food network, travel guide channel, and many newspapers, magazines and books.

And as Sarah Jessica Parker said, it is

What sets them apart from other Falafel restaurants is their rich tradition and history as well as their commitment to excellence. Their philosophy is simple: authentic Middle Eastern Cuisine served in a traditional environment. Everything we serve is made from scratch using only the freshest natural ingredients, the finest imported spices, and our signature recipes.

This is why I love Mamoun's!
It is homemade and authenticity is guaranteed!
Plus it is very affordable!

So come down and visit one of their locations
Whether it’s their flagship restaurant in Greenwich Village, t
heir East Village location,
their New Haven “sit-down” restaurant,
or their newest spots in Hoboken, New Jersey, and New Brunswick, New Jersey
(Princeton, NJ coming soon!),
you are sure to get the same high quality food, fast service and budget prices.

A Taste of Italy in The City

Fashion meets Food

SJP Shoes "Stella" went with me to Taralucci e Vino!

“She can handle any street.”
-Sarah Jessica Parker

As I conquer the world (starting with New York City of course) with my SJP Shoes,
as a lover of sweets, my first stop was of course Taralucci e Vino Restaurant!

They have 3 locations as follows:

475 COLUMBUS AVE
NYC 10024
T. 212 362 5454

163 1ST AVE
NYC 10003
T. 212 388 1190

15 E 18TH ST
NYC 10003
T. 212 228 5400
F. 212 228 4672

I went to the restaurant yesterday on my way to class to give these sweeties a try.
As I got in the restaurant,
I was a bit confused as I didn't see any pastry.
In the entrance, you'll see the bar to your left and then a staircase to the dining area.
A very nice lady, Sara, came to greet me and I told her about my mission on finding the Amaretto cookies.
As I was devouring the Amaretto cookies like there's no tomorrow, I asked if Marta is around.
She apparently was doing errands and I patiently waited for her.

I agree with SJP! They are the BEST almond cookies I ever had!

While waiting, I also tried the "tarallucci".
I can eat a handful of this cute little Italian biscuit!

Cutie tarallucci

Marta came back with a cheerful face excited to meet me as much as I was excited to meet her!
She offered me her personal favorite, a chocolate hazelnut biscotti.
And a cappuccino freshly made by Enrico.

I love biscotti! And this was heavenly!
The rich chocolate married with the hazelnut perfectly complements with the cappuccino!

Meet Marta! She's the sweetest!
Such a wonderful experience!
Visit the restaurant today and look for Marta.
Or Sarah or anyone really!
The whole crew is amazing!
And don't forget to try Enrico's specialty coffee.
Definitely a great afternoon stop before my class.
Can't wait to come back and try their homemade pasta and authentic Italian dishes!

Stirrup Season!

We might have just had "Spring forward' yesterday, but we are "Fashion backward" today!

During SJP Shoe Collection launch, an 80's fad was reborn to the fashion world: stirrup tights/leggings!

I remember owning stirrup pants in every color when I was in grade school! Now that I'm older, stirrup is not just but a fashion item for me. It has the ability to elongate the appearance of women’s legs!

Due to insistent public demand, here are the links as to where Sarah Jessica Parker got her now-again-famous stirrups!

Denise setting the trend on stirrup!

Then SJP did her own version after.

SJP: The New Collection of Sarah Jessica Parker

SJP wearing the LADY in red or as she calls it, geranium!
"This shoe is polite and old-fashioned. It suits a wide range of women with its simple silhouette. Crazy for this shoe!!! I wouldn't call it red. I'd call it geranium. It's the most perfect red and actually, magically seems to bounce light, rather than absorb it. As though it's lit from inside. And I just love the grosgrain down the back. The contrast on this shoe really makes its point and has a sort of refined beauty. And so she is a Lady."
-Sarah Jessica Parker

$350 exclusively at Nordstrom

SJP wearing the ANNA in coral and trying on the ETTA on me!

“Elegant Anna. I'm crazy for this shoe."

“Carrie is obviously one of my favorite people, and this is an ode to her. It's a strong shoe that can be worn for day and night. I love the way the strap dips down the front of the foot, accentuating the length of the leg and the delicacy of each strap. All of the details and the gorgeous grosgrain down the back combine to make it deserving of its namesake.”
-Sarah Jessica Parker
